About the Dark Phoenix Rebirth Statue
The Dark Phoenix Rebirth Statue is here! Kotobukiya has announced the release of the newest edition of the Dark Phoenix Rebirth Statue.
Dark Phoenix is a corrupted aspect of Jean Grey, The Phoenix. Jean Grey was created by comic writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby and appeared for the first time in comic books in September of 1963 as a member of the original X-Men team. Jean Grey is telepathic and telekinetic and is also one of the most powerful mutants. As she developed her powers and became known as Phoenix, she obtained the Phoenix Force. She starts out as “Marvel Girl” and earns the name “Phoenix” when she dies and is reborn, much like a phoenix. Later on, she descends into madness and becomes evil, leading to the title of “Dark Phoenix.”
As the Dark Phoenix takes over, Jean’s power grows to unimaginable levels, and even gives her the ability to destroy an entire planet. So complete is this possession, it was unclear if the soul of Jean Grey still resided in this evil being. Either way, Jean Gray, a.k.a. Dark Phoenix was a force to be reckoned with and insanely powerful, whether she was good or evil.
The Dark Phoenix Rebirth Statue is a 1/7 scale model and is based on Shunya Yamashita’s illustration. Filled with vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows, this Dark Phoenix statue emanates nothing but power. From her golden eyes that glare at you, to her pointed fingertips pulling up the flames behind her, this statue exudes fierceness and power. Dark Phoenix is telekinetic, and as such, she can pull herself into the air, as shown in the statue by the way her hair whips around her face. The flames cascading around behind her prove just how truly powerful and strong she is, as well as give a tribute to her namesake. Just as a phoenix rises from the ashes, so too does Dark Phoenix.
This statue is seven by six by eight inches and weighs almost two pounds.
This statue is based on an illustration by Shunya Yamashita.
