Bishoujo Remix Series Hatsune Miku

Presenting the Hatsune Miku Bishoujo Statue

Kotobukiya is introducing a brand new ReMIX series to join its Bishoujo line, which will first feature Hatsune Miku! Hatsune Miku is a character developed by Crypton Future Media to represent a Vocaloid software voice bank and was released in 2007.

Hatsune Miku was created to look like a 16-year-old girl with turquoise pigtails. She functions as Crypton Future Media’s principal moe anthropomorph. Voice actress Saki Fujita was used as the voice model. She uses Yamaha’s Vocaloid 2, Vocaloid 3, and Vocaloid 4 synthesizer technologies. The name of the character comes from the Japanese words for first, sound, and future, meaning the first sound of the future, in honor of the fact she was the first of the Crypton’s Vocaloid products. Originally developed with professional producers in mind, the character quickly became a sensation with the amateur and otaku market. She is now featured in over 100,000 songs and was the first trilingual Vocaloid character, originally released with the ability to sing in Japanese before being released with an English voicebank in 2013 and then a Mandarin Chinese voicebank in 2017. She performed her first concert as a celebrity during Animelo Summer Live in 2009 and has since had an unexpected and significant cultural impact.

Miku’s original color scheme was based on the signature turquoise color of Yamaha’s synthesizer and the design on her boots and skirt was based on synthesizer software colors and bars within the program’s interface. She was created as a diva android from the near future where songs are lost. Crypton has purposely not released very much about her personality so that most of her traits can be left up to the fan base. She has become a global icon and celebrity with much of her content based on community and fan collaboration, which is encouraged by Crypton.

Due to the popularity and success of the character, Hatsune Miku has become a phenomenon, not just as an icon but in other media as well. She has been referenced in several video games and anime. One notable example is the protagonist of manga series _Maker Hikoshiki Hatsune Mix_, which is told with no set storyline through the concept of portraying many different kinds of storytelling.

The statue itself stands nearly 10″ tall. This new Bishoujo design for Hatsune Miku features her signature turquoise pigtails with gradient pink highlights intertwined throughout. The gradient effect is made possible with clear plastic toward the lighter tips, creating an attractive and unique design. Her outfit emulates her original design with the black skirt and boots accented with turquoise and a light gray jacket. The design also features delicate frills and through the excellent craftsmanship of Kotobukiya the movement in her jacket and skirt is brought to life. She holds a guitar as if about to perform a concert just for you.

The art design for this statue was created by talented artist Shunya Yamashita. It is estimated to be available October 2020 to January 2021.
